FAQs About IVF Treatment | Laguna Hills & Orange County
What Is Involved In IVF?
IVF entails several medical procedures that can assist couples with different fertility issues to have healthy babies. Also, it can be applied when there is a need to prevent a genetic issue that can probably occur during the natural conception procedure. Depending on the couple’s genetic challenges and unique fertility, sperm and egg from the couple may be applied. It can also involve embryos, sperm, or eggs from anonymous or known donors. There are some instances whereby a gestational carrier is used for the procedure.
What to Expect During the In-Vitro Fertilization Treatment
Achieving the desired result entails using at least one cycle of IVF, including;
Ovulation Inducement: It entails using your eggs for the IVF procedure, and you will start a treatment to trigger your ovaries to deliver multiple eggs. Also, this procedure is often achieved by using synthetic hormones. You will probably undergo procedures like blood tests and vaginal ultrasounds and take several medications.
Egg Retrieval: The matured eggs are harvested before ovulation. These eggs will be incubated and immersed in a nutritive liquid.
Sperm Retrieval: A donor’s sperm or a partner’s sperm is used for the IVF procedure. In either case, the sperm will be discharged from the semen fluid before use.
Fertilization: Fertilization can be done via intracytoplasmic sperm injection or conventional insemination.
Embryo Transfer: An embryo will be inserted into the uterus after fertilization. The successful transfer of the embryo also results in its implantation in the lining of your uterus.
